Poems/Quotes about Zeta Tau

"My best friends,

The girls who know me best of all,

And who love me just the same,

The ones who lift me when I fall,

And carry me without shame,

Someone always there for me,

To listen and to talk,

With honesty and integrity,

My love will always be

With the girls who carry the dearest name

The name of Alpha Sigma Tau"

~Cathy Onorati - Spring 05

"Alpha Sigma Tau—no words sound sweeter to me. Throughout the years, I have gained so much from this wonderful group of girls. I have experienced ups and downs, and through them all, my sisters have been there. I entered a place where it was okay for me to be me. These are the girls who I will cherish until the end of time. These are the girls who will laugh at the stupidest joke, cry during the saddest movie, and will always be there to listen to any type of problem. These are the girls who have given me the best years of my life. Forever and always in my heart Zeta Tau."

~Kelly Kameros - Fall 03

"I grew up with sisters, but it wasn't until recently that I truly realized the value of them. I was always a bit of a loner. My sisters are twins and six years older than me and I tended to keep more to myself. I have always been a person that valued one-on-one face time with my friends more than group events. However, last year I met the sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau, and since then I have realized that we can't get everything we need from one person - no one has that amount of time...or patience, but patience is part of being a family

In a family, there is always one person who shares your love of salsa dancing, or 80's music.

There's one to help you when you're hurting and another who's always there to have a good time.

There are ones who will cry with you, and ones who will pray for you.

Another who will fight for you, and one who will put you in your place when you're out of line.

There is one who understands your family problems, or your roommate issues.

There's one who will share your love of Law and Order, and one who will never understand your seething hatred for Napoleon Dynamite.

There are some who will sympathize with you and others who will confront you with all your faults, but all of them love you - because they are your sisters.

Sisters are for laughing until your side hurts.

They are your shoulder to cry on and the knee when you're tired.

They are the arms that hold you when you're lonely.

They are for putting up with your bad moods and stubborn tendencies.

They are the ones who go with you when no one else wants to.

They see you at your worst, and love you in spite of all your weaknesses.

That's because they are your sisters.

These are the women who have shown me kindness and given me strength. They give me refuge when I am afraid and support me for who I am. They both believe in me, and challenge me to change. But most importantly they are the inspiration for the person I am becoming. They are part of my family. These are my sisters."

"What my sorority means to me…

A sorority is not about buying your friends or paying dues.

It’s not about being Greek or getting to wear letters or a pin.

It’s not just about committing yourself to an organization.

It’s not date parties or Cocktails.

It’s not about recruitment or philanthropies.

Even though all of these things are important…

A sorority is about Sisterhood, which is by definition, a group or society of women who are closely linked by a common interest.

But Sisterhood to me is all about the little things.

Like having a sister come to your rescue when you are stuck in the middle of nowhere…even though its 3 am.

It’s holding hands and giving all of your support to the sister who suddenly lost a loved one.

It’s staying in on a Saturday night to watch movies with the sisters who can’t go anywhere.

It’s laughing with your sister as she repeats what seems like the millionth time to her, her most embarrassing, yet insanely hilarious, stories.

It’s listening to your sister gush about her new love.

It’s leaving a 5-minute voice mail message on your sister’s cell phone talking about nothing in particular.

It’s going over to your sister’s room at midnight to listen to her tell you that she has made an important decision about her life and she is really happy.

It’s getting your sister ready after a last minute decision to go to a date party.

It’s falling and having your sisters there to pick you up.

It’s watching four hours of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for absolutely no reason at all.

It’s making sure your sister has the best birthday.

It’s having your sisters standing with you when everyone else thinks you are wrong.

All of these things are what makes Sisterhood the best thing that has happened to me.  Being a sister of Alpha Sigma Tau means so much to me.  These girls standing around you are my best friends and confidants.  They are the people that will be there for me for the rest of my life.  They are the people that will stand next to me and back me up when my world goes crazy.  Not only do I have these women, but I have a whole community of sisters, from the past, present, and future, from all over that I know will support me and all of my endeavors.

I love my sisters and Alpha Sigma Tau."
